4 tips on how to encourage customers to return to your Ecommerce store

02/07/2018 | Share:

Whether you have recently launched your Ecommerce website or have been running one for years. You want to do everything you can to win sales, however, it’s important not to focus all your efforts on attracting new customers.

In this blog, we look at the importance of repeat customers and how you can encourage them to buy again from your Ecommerce store.

Email your customers

If you can persuade your customers to sign up for an account or subscribe to your newsletter, use this opportunity to encourage repeat business. Offer them incentives and perks, priority access to sales and exclusive discounts.

Personalising your emails and recommending products and offers that they will be interested in is not only a great way to drive sales and promote products, it’s also a great way to build trust between your brand and your customers.

Reach out with retargeting

Use abandoned cart emails for those customers who have dropped out at the final stage of the checkout process. Send an email reminding them that they have products in their basket, maybe offer an incentive such as free shipping or a discount.

You can also retarget customers through social media ads. On Facebook and Instagram, you can display ads on the newsfeed of people who have previously visited or purchased from your site. You could show them the items they were looking at, similar products to what they bought or even promote a sale.

Use a loyalty program

Loyalty programs are a great way to encourage repeat customers. Rewarding your customers for purchases is a tried and tested strategy that not only encourages repeat sales, it also encourages bigger purchases as they trust your brand and your products.

For example, you could give your customers a certain number of points depending on how much they spend, points that they can collect and use towards future purchases.

Reward first time buyers

When a new customer buys from your Ecommerce store, why not include a small thank you gift in the packaging to encourage their next purchase. This could be anything from a discount code, a flyer showing a sneak peek at future products or if you sell something like make-up, you could offer a free sample of your other products.

By adding a little extra to their purchase, not only will they feel valued as a new customer, they will be more likely to shop again with you.

The most important thing to remember is to make your customers, new or existing, feel valued. Focus your time and energy on building relationships with the people who know your brand and your products. Not only will they be more likely to buy again, but they will also be more likely to tell their friends and help your business grow.
