How to Master Influencer Marketing

02/05/2018 | Share:

Influencer Marketing is one of the most effective methods of generating brand awareness through social media, however many businesses are reluctant to try it.

In this blog, we look at how you can find influencers to promote your products and create successful campaigns that will boost your ecommerce business.

Finding the right match

There are thousands of people in the world of social media who claim to be bloggers or influencers. So how do you find the right person to promote your business?

The number of followers isn’t the only thing you should consider when searching for an Influencer. Consider their demographic, location, interests and their follower’s demographic. The influencer has to compliment not only your brand values, but also those of your customers.

It’s important you take note of the type of content they post. You don’t want your Influencer to have posts that contradict your brand values. Also, in terms of their sponsored posts, are the brands they have worked with similar in price point. For example, If they promote luxury handbags, they may not be right for your novelty t-shirt business.

The more followers the Influencer has, the more they will charge, so bear this in mind when you contact them. There are plenty of micro-influences with less followers, that work just as well for a fraction of the cost in some cases.

Creating a campaign

When you reach out to them, try not to sound too transactional. You want to sound warm and friendly, after all, you want these people to work with you and give you a good review. By building a relationship with them, their promotions will sound more genuine and passionate and less scripted.

When planning the campaign with your Influencer, remember that they know what their audience responds to. Don’t just give the Influencer a pre-written script, create a discussion to come up with the best way to appeal to both their followers and your customers.

There are many ways you can work with an influencer, depending on your budget. You could let them takeover your social channel for the day, create a collection of products together, write a blog post, create a product review video or simply get them to post a picture with a discount code. It’s important that you keep in mind what your goals are. Do you want more followers, traffic to your website or more sales.

Share the content

When the campaign goes live, it’s important that you share it and raise as much interest as possible. Once the Influencer has shared the post on social media, make sure you share it and comment on it through your business account and then share it across all your social channels to reach as many people as possible.

In addition, you could promote the content on social media through paid ads, amplifying the content more and showing it people who don’t necessarily follow you.

Finding the right influencer and creating the right campaign can increase not only your online presence and credibility. It may also lead to an increase in sales. Influencer marketing is a trend that isn’t going away anytime soon. So why not try it?
