How to make your business stand out from your competitors

02/08/2018 | Share:

Whether you have recently started your ecommerce business or have been running it for years, you want your business to be noticed. In this blog, we look at 3 great ways you can make your business stand out from your competitors.

Deliver an excellent service

Your customers are vital when it comes to your business’ growth. The goal is to get loyal customers who will tell their friends about your products and come back to your store again and again.

In order to get these customers, you need to treat them with excellent customer service. This can be anything from a thank you note with their purchase, a discount on their birthday or going that extra mile for your customer when helping them decide on a product. Small things like this can make a huge impact on how a customer feels about your business.

Consistency is key

One of the key things that makes a brand stand out is their consistency. It includes everything from your tone of voice, colour scheme, content and customer service.

When you think about some of the biggest brands in the world like Coca-Cola and Apple, they all have a very consistent message and image. Creating consistent branding for your business will not only make you stand out, it will also allow customers to begin to recognise your content and form a relationship with your brand.

Do things differently

An obvious way to stand out from your competitors is to do things differently to them. This can be anything from your prices, your tone of voice or even the way you photograph your product. For example, If your a clothing brand and your competitor posts images of styled models, consider laying your clothes out flat on a surface and photograph them that way.

Make sure you keep up to date with what your competitors are doing. This isn’t to say do everything differently, if they are doing something that is clearly working, use it, just don’t copy everything they do!

Beat your competition

It’s unlikely that your business is a completely original, never been done before business. Many successful new businesses are an improved version of what is already out there. In order to stand out from your competitors, you need to be finding a gap in the market that you can fill.

This can be something as small as offering free shipping when your competitor doesn’t. Do your competitor research, get into the mind of your consumers and see if there is anything you can do to stand out.

There are a number of things you can do to stand out from your competition. Listen to your customer’s needs and keep up to date with what other businesses are doing and you should begin to see your business grow.
