How to boost your social media at your next event

01/11/2018 | Share:

Simply tagging yourself at the event on social media is no longer enough. Nowadays, there are so many different options to promote an event and engage your followers. Whether you are attending an event or hosting one, In this blog we look at all the ways you can share an event on social media.

Use a hashtag

One ingredient vital to any event is a creative, branded hashtag that attendees can use to tag their posts on social media. If you are attending an event make sure you always use the hashtag across all channels and if there are any key people or influencers in attendance make sure you try to include them too.

Using a hashtag is not only a great way to see what people are saying about an event, but it is also easy to create and participate in an engaging conversation with other attendees and people interested in the event.

Behind the scenes

So now you know the hashtag for the event, but what do you post? Showing exclusive behind the scenes content is great for not only building brand trust, but it also humanises your business and allowing event attendees to show some personality and have some fun with the content they create is a great way of driving engagement. Just make sure you are on hand to reply and engage with your audience. This not only shows appreciation for individual contributions, but it also encourages others to engage too. You could:

-Live stream
-Video highlights
-Live Tweeting
-Behind the scenes photos
-Team or staff pictures

Location tagging

Posting great content, using the right hashtags and tagging the right people is a recipe for great engagement. However, you can also use location tagging on Instagram or Facebook to allow your followers and other event attendees to know you’re at the event. It is effectively another way for your content to be found and ultimately drive engagement.
You can tag your location on Instagram posts, Instagram stories and live streams as well as Facebook posts.

Social media plays a huge part in how we experience things and your next event should be no different. It allows you to show your followers an exclusive look behind the scenes and allows people who weren’t in attendance to experience the excitement second hand.
