Give your business the personal touch and grow your customer loyalty

03/10/2018 | Share:

When growing your business, one of the easiest ways to encourage customer loyalty is to show them your appreciation. Often businesses forget to show their customers they care, but sometimes going back to basics and saying thank you can be one of the most important things you do.

Focussing on an excellent customer experience throughout the customer journey can make you stand out from your competitors. It can also naturally encourage word of mouth marketing and stronger customer relationships.

In this blog, we look at how you can give your business the personal touch and show your appreciation to your customers.

1. Voucher code

When a customer orders from you, it’s more than likely you will send them a thank you/order confirmation email. In order to make your customer feel appreciated, send them a discount code too. Done right, this will not only make the customer feel valued, but they will also be more likely to return to your website.

It’s important that you don’t make it feel like you are pushing for another sale. Use text such as “just to say thank you” or “just for you” as a way to make the customer feel special. The personal touch can go a long way.

2. Handwritten note

A great way of showing customers you care, that won’t blow the budget, is to include a handwritten letter with their purchase, whether they are a new customer, a returning customer or even if you are responding to a complaint with a new product or vouchers.

Sending a handwritten note to show your appreciation not only makes the customer feel like they are dealing with an individual rather than a business, but it also makes them feel special as a little extra thought has gone into their order. Use the customer’s name and sign it off with yours and be thoughtful in your message.

Handwritten notes will not only increase customer relationships, but it’s also likely they will become a repeat customer due to the level of detail in your customer service.

3. Complimentary gift

If you’ve ever purchased anything online, you will know that unboxing your purchase is often half the fun.

By including a little extra something in the package, not only are you providing an element of surprise and appreciation, but you can also add value to their purchase or encourage them back to buy more from you.

You could include:
– A ‘how to’ manual
– Product samples
– Stickers or a branded poster
– Small gifts relevant to your target consumer
– Sweets

4. Social sharing

Finally, another simple way of showing appreciation for your customers is to interact with them when they show appreciation on social media. If someone tweets about how much they love your product, respond to them and say thank you. If someone shares a photo on Instagram of your product, share it onto your page, show your appreciation and tag the user.

If you begin to do this, people will begin to notice and start to post more about your business. This will also increase your credibility as a brand and more people will take notice. This is a tried and tested way of growing your business without having to spend a penny.

Just make sure you let it happen organically. Don’t push your customers to post on social media, it will instantly put them off. However, by showing your appreciation for your customers, they will be more like to go online and share their appreciation for you.
